Under the motto 'Future of Energy - Innovations for a climate-neutral Future', the 17th Energy Innovation Symposium will take place from 16th to 18th of February 2022 at the Graz University of Technology (TU Graz). The symposium is organized by the Institute of Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation of TU Graz together with the co-organisers of the Austrian Electrotechnical Association, Oesterreichs Energie, and World Energy Council Austria.
The current IPCC climate report underlines the urgency of achieving climate neutrality as quickly as possible. In addition, more and more people are being affected by the consequences of climate change. The entire energy sector and, above all, the increasingly important sector of electrical energy will play a decisive role in this. Based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement, strategies and measures for climate neutrality are increasingly being discussed at different levels (e.g. EU Green Deal, “Fit for 55”, coal phase-out, Renewable Expansion Act) The symposium will discuss what innovations are needed on the road to climate neutrality from an energy perspective and how to overcome any obstacles that may arise.
