The 16th edition of Central & Eastern Europe Regional Energy Forum - FOREN 2022, organized from 12 to 15 June 2022, at Vox Maris Grand Resort, by the World Energy Council / Romanian National Committee (WEC/RNC) under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy brought together over 400 participants in order to address a variety of the most topical subjects under the main theme “ENERGY TRANSITION NEEDS REGIONAL COOPERATION”.

The major events, organised in a hybrid format (physical and online), totalled over 20 hours of live broadcasts. In the four technical and scientific paper sessions, 70 papers were presented, and more than 25 technical papers were presented in the poster session.

Also, the FOREN 2022 exhibition included 16 exhibition stands and an exhibition of the History of oil and gas in Romania.

Against the backdrop of the difficult period we are going through, generated by the crisis caused by armed conflicts, superimposed on the general health crisis, to which the energy crisis has been added - all with dramatic implications for mankind - FOREN 2022 tried to respond to a real need for analysis and debate and to become an objective platform for identifying possible solutions to overcome the challenges facing the energy sectors in the Central and Eastern European region.

Some of the best decision-makers and experts in the energy sector gathered at the event, and FOREN 2022 thus also became an ideal environment for dialogue on energy cooperation, exchange of information, experience, best practices, and business meetings between experts.

The European context of the Forum was realized by participants from Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Republic of Moldova, as well as representatives from the European Commission, European Union Institute for Security Studies, ACER, BSEC PERMIS.

This year's edition of FOREN was attended by leading representatives from prestigious entities: Romanian and European authorities, companies providing energy equipment, solutions and services, energy operators, research and development institutes, universities, non-governmental organizations, consulting firms. The event was also attended by executive officials of the Global Secretariat Office of the World Energy Council in London, as well as representatives from three European National Committees, members of the Council.
