The guest of La Revue de l'Énergie
Friday, January 26, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m (Paris time).
On the occasion of the publication in the journal of her article "Natural hydrogen: its exploration-production has begun, what are the prospects?" available here, Isabelle Moretti, Member of the Academy of Technologies and associate researcher at the University of Pau, will speak with Marie-Line Vaiani, editor-in-chief of La Revue de l'Énergie, during a virtual meeting where she will also answer the questions you wish to ask!
Hydrogen can be produced from hydrocarbons, coal or water, but it can also be found in its natural state below the earth’s surface. After being discovered by chance while drilling for water or hydrocarbons, this phenomenon is now being further explored. The article provides an overview of what is currently known about why hydrogen is generated underground, how it can be built up, and the geological environments that are favourable to this process. The US and Australia are already actively exploring the phenomenon while France has recently embarked on the process, with French law recognising this natural resource as of 2022.
