Unlocking Energy Efficiency in Aotearoa

On Wednesday, 25 September 2024 from 4 pm - 5:30 pm (NZ) at the BusinessNZ, Level 13 NTT Tower, 159 Lambton Quay, Wellington, New Zealand.

As New Zealand faces energy scarcity, both with limited gas and electricity supply, improving the supply imbalance takes priority to ensure the lights stay on, businesses stay in New Zealand and energy is affordable to decarbonise our economy. As part of our actions to boost supply, it is clear we need to take a closer look at energy efficiency to ensure that we can minimise peak demand, optimise and reduce demand, and use our energy more dynamically in a system with more renewables.

Join our panellists as they discuss ways to improve energy efficiency through new emerging technologies, identifying barriers and solutions to its adoption including quick wins we can do now, the role that Government and the private sector can play, and ways to unlock more demand-side flexibility.

The panel includes:

  • Dr Marcos Pelenur - Chief Executive, EECA (Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority)
  • Dr Chris Mardon - Founder, Energy Mad and Ecobulb
  • Sam Elder - General Manager Energy Futures, Orion NZ Limited
  • Roger Sutton - Principal Strategy Advisor, DETA (Facilitator)
