23rd World Energy Congress amazing opportunity for member committees to network with key energy players

With just under three weeks to go until the Congress, the World Energy Council programme team has confirmed that there are now more than 250 speakers from 81 countries, including 55 ministers and delegates from over 100 countries already registered.

The 23rd World Energy Congress is an amazing opportunity for member committees to network and gain valuable insights from the many of the key players within the energy sector. There is still time to register.

Delegates attending the event will hear from Guler Sabanci, the 7th most powerful woman in the World as well as CEOs and top executives from the world’s leading utility and power companies and global giants, including Gazprom, Saudi Aramco, BP, Royal Dutch Shell, Total, Rosatom, SOCAR, Lukoil, OMV, EDF, EnBW, ENGIE, TANAP, E.ON, DESFA and China National Nuclear Corporation will be discussing the energy agenda at the  world’s most comprehensive energy event.

Meanwhile, top technology companies such as Bosch, Siemens, DHL, Silver Spring Networks, ThyssenKrupp and Westinghouse will guide the debate on the future trends of innovation.

The Congress will also witness exchanges among policymakers of several countries central to the energy game. Along with Khalid El-Falih, the Energy Minister of Saudi Arabia, Alexander Novak, the Energy Minister of Russia and Maros Šefcovič, European Commission’s Vice-President for Energy Union will also be present.

The ministers of energy, environment, economy and industry from a vast array of countries including Iran, Iraq, UAE, Jordan, Germany, Switzerland, Algeria, Nigeria, Argentina and Mexico will convene at World Energy Congress 2016 to steer the global energy agenda.

Along with the top executives of the World Energy Council, global opinion leaders including representatives of IAEA, IEA, IPCC, IRENA, OPEC, UNECE, UNDP, KAPSARC, WHO, WWF, Oliver Wyman, Accenture, PwC and World Nuclear Association, will lead high-level discussions on how to address the energy trilemma.

Top executives from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, OPEC Fund for International Development, Development Bank of Latin America and Goldman Sachs will join the debate to discuss the financing of global energy transitions.

The Congress will be opened by the Turksish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and will be hosted by Turkish PM Binali Yıldırım and Energy Minister Berat Albayrak.

The World Energy Congress provides a unique opportunity to take a complete and global view on pressing and long-term energy issues including visions and scenarios for the future.
