24th World Energy Congress: More Speakers Confirmed

The World Energy Congress is the largest and most influential energy event covering all aspects of the energy agenda. Started by the World Energy Council in 1924, the Congress offers a unique opportunity for participants to better understand energy issues and solutions from a global perspective.

 
 
We are happy to announce some of the most recently confirmed speakers for this year:

We are delighted to announce that Lord Browne of Madingley has formally confirmed to speak at the Congress. He is a former CEO of BP (1995-2007) and today Chairs the huge new venture to build a major new oil and gas company L1 Energy .
 
 
From the enterprise side we have Richard Poulden - Chairman of the Dubai-based financial org Black Swan (a company name derived from the fascinating Black Swan Theory). Richard has an ample background in Business Law, having worked for and founded many successful investment projects. Also confirmed is Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, an experienced engineer who rose up the French Industry ranks as an advisor for the Ministries of Industry and Energy. He was appointed Chairman of Global Energy group in May of 2018 to lead their efforts in driving a sustainable energy transition.
 

 
 
 
Policymakers and government speakers are also critical cogs in the energy machine. Suma Chakrabarti is the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and has extensive experience in international development economics and policy-making. He has also worked in different public UK offices and holds honorary doctorates in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Joao Galamba is the Portuguese Secretary of State for Energy, holds a degree in Economics and a Ph.D. in Political Science. Before coming to parliament in 2009 he worked for the investment division of Santander, DiamondCluster International and a number of business projects. Abubakar Sani Sambo comes from a mechanical engineering background and has been deeply connected to the energy industry for his entire career, including working for the World Energy Council. He is now the Special Advisor to the Nigerian President. They will all be featured speakers come September.
