Following the successful Future Energy Leaders’ Summit in Cartagena, Colombia, in October 2014, a task force of young professionals has been working on the development of formal Terms of Reference for the FELs programme with its own board. This group will develop work programmes and event agendas, oversee and monitor the achievement of objectives, compliance with processes, as well as the selection of new programme participants.
Reporting into the Council’s Programme Committee, the Future Energy Leaders Board is similar to the World Energy Council’s Officer Council, consisting of members representing all the regions. Oversight of responsibilities is carried out through the Future Energy Leaders Chair, Secretary and three Committees, Development, Nominations and Studies, each with three members.
Christoph Frei said: “We are thrilled to see the Future Energy Leaders’ programme growing and through its own Board take ownership of what FELS do.”
The FEL-100 programme is designed to inspire participants to be active and become the next generation of energy leaders capable of solving the world’s most pressing challenges regarding energy and sustainability. It identifies talent, accelerates learning, inspires leadership and enables collaborative vision shaping, as well as encourages innovation and development of solutions for tomorrow. Nominations to be part of the FEL programme take place at the beginning of each year and are accepted from Member Committees, Patrons, Global Partners as well as externally.
