Karl Rose, WEC director of policies and scenarios, presented the findings from the WEC study, Global Transport Scenarios 2050, published in 2011. Amongst its conclusions, the study finds that increase in transport demand will be driven mostly by China and India, and transport energy will remain heavily dependent on fossil fuels.
Commenting on the findings, Jürgen Stotz, chair of WEC Germany, said that “today’s societies will have to invest even more in research and infrastructure to ensure alternative and climate friendly technologies”.
Experts from the IEA, Bosch, and the Federation of German Industry also spoke at the event.
