As previously announced, the Council will be formally launching this year’s World Energy Trilemma report at the seventh Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM7) meeting next month in San Francisco on 1-2 June. The report will be introduced by Enerst Monitz, United States Secretary of Energy, to the close Ministerial meeting including China’s Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang; Maroš Šefčovič, Vice President for EU’s Energy Union; and India’s Minister of Power, Coal & New & Renewable Energy Piyush Goya. Through case studies, interviews, a wide assessment of country energy strategies and leveraging five years of the Trilemma Ranking Index, the report has identified five focus areas to drive progress on each dimension of the energy trilemma goals.

Member Committees will receive the Information package and embargoed copy of the report this week in order to allow for national media outreach campaigns. The 2016 Energy Trilemma Index will be released in October at the World Energy Congress 2016.
