World Energy Council welcomes Enerjisa as Global Partner

LONDON & ISTANBUL, 20 August 2013 – The World Energy Council (WEC) has welcomed Enerjisa as the newest member of its Global Partner programme.

Enerjisa is a leading energy company operating in Turkey’s electricity generation, distribution, trading, wholesale, and retail markets. The company is 50:50 owned by Sabancı Holding, one of the leading industrial and financial conglomerates in Turkey; and E.ON, one of the world’s largest investor-owned power and gas companies.

Enerjisa joins the World Energy Council’s community of Global Partners to contribute to the WEC’s efforts in devising strategies to address global energy challenges and to deliver sustainable energy systems.

Mr Selahattin Hakman, Chairman of the Enerjisa Board of Directors, said:

Mr Selahattin Hakman made the remarks as he confirms his role as speaker at the World Energy Congress, the WEC’s premier energy gathering to take place in in Daegu, South Korea, during 13–17 October. Mr Hakman will be speaking at the Eurasia Regional Crossroads session on Day 2, where he will discuss regional energy dynamics and Turkey’s increasing role as a key country for energy transit and terminals. He will also elaborate on recent developments in the Turkish energy sector and the sector’s achievements in establishing a functional competitive energy market which stands as a model for many countries in the region.

Taner Yıldız, Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, will be joining nearly 40 other government ministers as speakers at the World Energy Congress. Mr Yıldız was co-host of the WEC’s World Energy Leaders’ Summit in Istanbul, Turkey in April 2012 with the WEC’s Turkish Member Committee.

Mr Hakman added:
