Edison Andrés Pogo Macas

Andrés Pogo is an engineer specializing in electrical and electronics, and an active expert with the WEC. He has served as an advisor to the Minister of Energy and Mines (MEM) and the CEO of the Electrical Corporation of Ecuador (CELEC). Additionally, he has worked as an electromechanical specialist engineer for Ecuador's largest hydroelectric plant and conducted research for the National Center of Energy Control (CENACE). His extensive experience spans telecommunications, oil, and energy sectors, successfully leading international projects and managing industrial and hydroelectric plant operations.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Ecuador formulates state policies for electricity, hydrocarbons, and mining. Andrés has collaborated with the Ministry, CENACE, and CELEC, the principal entities in the electrical sector, to establish and enforce critical policies, laws, and regulations.

At WEC, Andrés contributed to the Energy Trilemma initiative and promoted efforts to secure funding for WEC Ecuador. In diverse industries, including oil with Eni Group and telecommunications with Telefónica, he has demonstrated expertise in automation, industrial processes, and project management. His achievements include the "Best Project Energy Saving" award at the Telefónica World Forum in 2015.

Supported by a SENESCYT Excellence Scholarship, Andrés's education includes master’s degrees in international economics and business in Spain, and in Energy and Sustainability in the UK.
