Justice Ohene-Akoto

Founder, Africa Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC)

Ing. Justice Ohene-Akoto is a multiple award-winning Ghanaian Inventor and Professional Engineer. He is the Founder of the Africa Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC). He is a Regional Electrical Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS). Over the years, he has consulted for several multinational organizations including the Oxford Business Group (OBG), the German Energy Agency (dena), and Ariel Foundation International (AFI) amongst others.

Ing. Ohene-Akoto was crowned Rising Star in Ghana's Energy sector at the Ghana Energy Awards 2020. In the same year, he emerged as a Forty Under 40 Achiever at the Forty Under 40 Awards 2020. In July 2021, he won the Best Student Paper Award at the World Congress on Engineering 2021 held in London, United Kingdom. He is a two-time Kleinman Centre grant recipient at the University of Pennsylvania in November 2023 and April 2024.

He is the National Vice-President of the World Energy Council's Future Energy Leaders Ghana.

As an industry player and researcher in academia, he helps bridge the gap between these sectors. He owns several innovation patents which include patents in Electric Vehicles and Corona Virus Transmission Prevention System with the Australian and German Governments respectively. He has served as a member of the technical committee, reviewer, keynote speaker, consultant and chair for several international conferences and reports. He has over 15 academic publications in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences.

Ing. Ohene-Akoto has multiple Master’s degrees which include a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Ivy League's University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Wales, UK. He has a Master of Philosophy in Power Systems Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in view. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the KNUST. He is a certified Project Manager by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
