Maira Morales
Refinery Planning Engineer, ANCAP
Maira is a Chemical Engineer graduated from Uruguay´s National University (UdelaR). She joined ANCAP (Uruguay’s National Oil Company that guarantees fuel supply to the whole country) as an engineering student in the country’s only oil Refinery, in the Laboratory. She currently works as a Refinery Planning Engineer, a position that involves refinery operational planning and scheduling, through linear programming model optimization and includes crude oil selection and economic evaluations. Highly motivated by topics such as climate change and the energy sector, she worked as team leader of the Association of Chemical Engineers of Uruguay´s project “Energy transition prospective in the Uruguayan process industry” and has participated as lecturer in the postgraduate course “Energy Sector Fundamentals”, where she hopes to inspire fellow engineers in the importance of a people-centred clean energy transition and environmental awareness, combining this with her perspective of the Oil & Gas sector. She is also NFEL-UY, involved in a project of “Diffusion of the Energy Sector” which aims to archive energy literacy in general Uruguayan population and to inspire young high school students in energy related topics.
