Mariela Colombo

Mariela Colombo is a Materials Engineer from Argentina with 9 years of experience in the energy industry. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from UNMDP, Argentina, and an MSc. in Environmental Systems from UC Merced, USA. Mariela's career began in the O&G upstream sector, as a Junior Corrosion Engineer in Pluspetrol, Argentina. She then transitioned downstream, serving as a Senior Materials and Corrosion Engineer in Shell/Raizen’s Dock Sud Refinery, Argentina. She also represented Raizen in the Jóvenes Profesionales committee of the IAPG.
Before leaving for the US with a Fulbright-IAPGH scholarship, Mariela worked as a Management Consultant at Accenture, in the Intelligent Asset Management team. During her studies at UC Merced, Mariela contributed as a researcher in a California Energy Commission project assessing the role of energy storage in renewable-driven grids and the importance of flexible systems.
Currently, Mariela is a Senior Consultant and Project Manager at Calden Consultoría, managing renewable energy, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction projects. She is passionate about driving the energy transitions and addressing energy disparities, advocating for sustainable and just energy solutions.
