Monica Raphita Simarmata is an Energy Sector Senior Associate at Tetra Tech's energy and international development advisory services. Monica has about 8 years of professional experience both in Indonesia and in the United States with a focus on energy markets, regulatory reform, energy supply chains, and circular economy in emerging markets. On USAID’s Scaling Up Renewable Energy program, Monica has co-authored a white paper titled Clean Energy and the Circular Economy: Opportunities for Increasing the Sustainability of Renewable Energy Value Chains. Monica has provided in-country support on several short-term international assignments in Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and Zambia covering various topics including utility modernization, infrastructure sharing between the power and ICT sectors, and promoting accessibility to clean cooking fuels as an alternative to charcoal. Monica holds a Master of Environmental Management with a concentration in Energy and Environment from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia.
