Nonhlelo Mathunjwa

Nonhlelo Mathunjwa is an energy professional with a career spanning Renewable Energy, Power Systems, and Electricity Markets & Regulation. She holds both an MScEng and BScEng degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. She is an experienced team player, renewable energy expert and project manager with core competencies in designing, developing, and implementing utility-scale power systems, and electricity regulatory frameworks, standards, and codes.

With a proven track record of successful projects, Nonhlelo is well versed in engaging with various stakeholders and has been a key contributor in the Eswatini electricity supply industry as well as globally with various power system initiatives in South Africa and Germany including serving within the CIGRE International Women in Energy Net-Zero and CIGRE Electricity Markets and Regulation Study Committee.

Currently, Nonhlelo works at Hitachi Energy in Germany as a Research Fellow through sponsorship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Her work deals with energy transformation with a focus on grid integration, mathematical optimization, regulation, and grid codes.
