Sarah Alharthey

Sarah Alharthey is a pioneering young professional from Saudi Arabia, making strides in the clean energy sector and devoting her career to climate action. In her role as an Executive Business Development Manager at ACWA Power, Sarah has a proven track record in the development of project-financed sustainable utilities infrastructure projects. These projects, which include solar energy, wind energy, multi utilities, and green hydrogen, have effectively reduced CO2 emissions by more than 3 million tons per year for a 25-year period.
In recognition of her exceptional contribution to climate action, Sarah was chosen as an Emerging Climate Leaders Fellow by Yale University in 2022 and was appointed as the Climate Ambassador for Saudi Arabia in 2021 by the World Bank Y2Y initiative.
Sarah's academic credentials consist of an Electrical and Computer Engineering bachelor's degree and a Renewable Energy Engineering master's degree. Notably, she is among Saudi Arabia's first generation of female engineers.
Through her publications and co-authored participation in position papers with esteemed organizations, Sarah consistently provides unique insights and a broader, more humanized inclusive understanding of clean energy and climate issues that are intergenerational and gender sensitive. She has been present at important forums such as the UN High-Level Meetings and COP25/26/27/28, leveraging these platforms to engage in meaningful dialogue and promote action. Sarah currently serves as the Chair of the Youth taskforce at Women in Renewables Alliance.
