Shiyu Rao is impact-driven, motivated, and passionate about climate, energy, renewable, decarbonization, and sustainability. Shiyu was born and raised in China and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Purdue University and Pennsylvania State University in the United States. She joined a state-renowned engineering consulting firm in San Francisco as a high-performance/sustainability consultant after graduation. She mainly served clients from Science Hi-Tech, healthcare, and pharmaceutical sectors to improve energy efficiency as well as minimize environmental impact. Shiyu began working for a start-up company in 2021 as the Energy & Sustainability lead in Beijing. Her primary responsibilities there included project management, consulting, and client relationship management.

In 2023, Shiyu joined CBRE as an Energy Manager where she plays an essential role in developing decarbonization roadmaps, generating & implementing energy efficiency strategies and energy transition practices for clients in APAC regions. Shiyu is a licensed Professional Engineers (U.S.) and LEED AP, she was selected as China Rep. of Global Energizing Women to Advance the Energy Transition Program. Shiyu has served the local energy community as President since 2019.
