The Tunisia National Committee aims to promote sustainable energy development in Tunisia, as a part of the World Energy Council’s energy vision. As a member of the World Energy Council network, the organisation is committed to representing the Tunisian perspective within national, regional and global energy debates. The committee includes a variety of members to ensure that the diverse energy interests of Tunisia are appropriately represented. Members of the committee are invited to attend high-level events, participate in energy-focused study groups, contribute to technical research and be a part of the global energy dialogue.
Mr Nabil Bouraoui is currently serving as the Secretary General of the National Member Committee of the World Energy Council. He has represented Tunisia (Ministry in charge of Energy) at the Energy Charter (TRANSIT) since 2001. Mr Bourani’s professional career began at SITEP in 1985 (Société Italo-Tunisienne d’exploitation Pétrolière), an Italo-Tunisian company in charge of the exploitation of El Borma oil field in Tunisia, where he held numerous positions. He was appointed Senior Engineer at the Tunisian Ministry in charge of energy gas department in 1993. In 2000, Mr Bouraoui was placed in charge of Strategic Studies and International Relations at the General Directorate of Energy. Mr Bouraoui gained a Master of Science from Ecole Nationale des Ingénieurs de Tunis in 1984. He is also certified in Project Management by Swedish Institute Projektstyrning AB Stockholm, Sweden.
